King William notifies Bishop Walkelin of Winchester, the sheriffs Hugh de Port and Edward, Odo, Æthelsige, Sæwulf, Ælfsige of Hatch, Cola and Eadric and all his thegns of Hants. and Wilts. that he wills that St Peter (i.e. Winchester) and Bishop Walkelin be entitled to all the rights that Bishop Ælfwine had in King Edward’s day. They are not to impede the bishop in any way in the possession of these rights, since William does not wish that any new customs should be imposed on St Peter and Bishop Walkelin.
