These are the terms of the truce and the agreement which King Æthelred 32 and all his councillors have made with the fleet led by Olaf 5 [Anlaf] and Justin 1 [Iustin] and Guthmund 3 the son of Stegita 1. In the first place, a general truce shall be established between King Æthelred 32 and all his subjects and the whole fleet to which the king has paid tribute, in accordance with the terms which Archbishop Sigeric 9 and Ealdorman Æthelweard 2 and Ealdorman Ælfric 87 made, when they obtained the king's permission to purchase peace for the districts which subject to him, they ruled over. |
