Description

King William notifies Archbishop Lanfranc and all his sheriffs and officials of England that he has granted sake and soke, toll and team, infangetheof and wreck at Ringstead and Brancaster to the abbey of Ramnsey and Abbot Æthelsige, with all customs that the king can have there. The abbey is to have its customs as freely as the king has his, wherever it holds land. Abbot Æthelsige is to hold the abbey as completely as King Edward gave it to abbot Ælfwine, and if anyone has taken anything from the abbey since William’s coronation, it is to be restored, if he has been unable to plead through the chapter.
