Notes: The text states that Tisbury was an early possession of Shaftesbury which was ceded to King Edmund 1 in exhange for Butticanlea. Edmund 1 gave it to his wife, Ælfgifu 1, who proposed to bequeath it to Shaftesbury 1 (perhaps as a reversion). But King Eadwig 1 insisted that Butticanlea should be returned before he surrendered Tisbury to the community.
