Boniface 5 wrote to Zacharias 1 to tell him that he had learned with great joy of his appointment to the Apostolic See. He told the Pope about the appointment of three bishops in Germany and Carloman 1's request to bring together a council in the Frankish kingdom. He also asked the Pope's advice on various matters, including clerics known to be fornicators and drunkards. Finally Boniface 5 asked the Pope to prohibit certain heathen practices that some ignorant common people, among the Alemannians, Bavarians and Franks, had seen in Rome on the first day of January. |
