*@Whitelock 1979 comments: 'We know of no occasion in or before 883 when the English were encamped against London. Yet as it is in all the MSS. except "A", it must be an early addition, perhaps misplaced.'
*@Swanton 1996, p. 79 n. 20, comments: 'the only clear association of Alfred 8 with London is in 886, and probably this allusion belongs to that date, the author perhaps mistaking vi for iii (cf. Beaven, "The beginning of the year", 341-2).'
