John 17, after rehearsing the history lying behind Wilfrid 2's appeal and how it had just been heard, ruled that Beorhtwald 6 should hold a synod and require John 18 and Bosa 1 to be present. After hearing both sides, it should reach a decision and if it could not agreed on all parties should present themselves to the Apostolic See for a fuller synod on pain of deprivation if anyone did not attend.
