Notes:
*Swithhun 5 had been so humble and so low in his own regard that he would not allow himself to be buried within the Old Minster. Swithhun 5 had insisted instead that his body be buried to the west of the illustrious church.
*Lapidge (p. 25) gives the date of the translation of Swithhun 5's relics by Ęthelwold 1 into the Old Minster as 15 July 971.
