| Description |
Anonymous 25 took his son (Anonymous 24) possessed by a demon to the holy tomb of Cuthbert 1 and Eadberht 3. He was not healed at first, but then a man took a bit of soil from the place where they had washed the body of Cuthbert 1. He mixed the soil with some water and gave it to the boy to drink. |

Bede says that the saints at first did not heal the boy, in order that the power of Cuthbert 1 might gleam more brightly.
