(Bishop of Sherborne, 890x900-909) : When Asser 1 found that there was no space in the book in which Alfred 8 had asked him to copy the passage Asser 1 had just read aloud to him, Asser 1 asked whether he might write it on a separate quire. At the request of Alfred 8 he copied out a further three passages that day. Then daily during their discussions as other pleasing passages were found, the quire that has been referred to grew full.
