Persons associated with this Event:
- Agent:
Guthlac 2
(Saint, c.674-716) : Guthlac 2 provided a basket with straw in it, where swallows built a nest, which he placed under the eaves of the building. They came annually and sought a sign from Guthlac 2 as to where their dwelling should be.
- (Other):
Wilfrid 8
(Abbot, friend of St Guthlac 2) : While Wilfrid 8 was talking with Guthlac 2 as he was accustomed to do, two swallows entered the house and settled, chirping, on Guthlac 2. Amazed at the actions of the swallows, Wilfrid 8 asked Guthlac 2 how the birds could have the confidence to approach him.
