Notes:
Whitelock, EHD, pp. 375, 483, cites as earliest genuine Anglo-Saxon charter extant in a cartulary but notes that the witnesses were copied from S 1167; Scharer 1982, p. 34 n. 73, forged under the influence of S 1167; Wormald 1985, p. 25, broadly trustworthy; Edwards 1988, pp. 211-14, 216-18, wording of charter entirely genuine, cartularist may simply have copied the wrong witness-list by mistake.
