*Bede 1 reports the details of Dryhthelm 1's experience out of his body. There is a clear influence from Virgil's Aeneid vi.268 @Colgrave and Mynors, p.491, n.2.

(Man who had a vision of the underworld) : He rose and went to the oratory in the village and continued in prayer until daylight came.
(Wife of Dryhthelm 1) : His wife remained with him, though trembling with fear, when he rose from the dead.
(Priest) : He would often visit Dryhthelm 1, after he retired near the monastery of Melrose, and would learn from him what sort of things he saw when he was out of his body.
(King of the Northumbrians and successor of Ecgfrith 4, 686-705) : Dryhthelm 1 also told his visions to him.
