The following are some of the concluding statements to this ordinance: All the councillors all together gave their pledge to the archbishop at Thunderfield, when Ælfheah 18 Stybb and Beorhtnoth 15, Odda 5's son, came to that assembly at the king's command, that every reeve should receive the pledge in his own shire, that they would all maintain that peace as King Æthelstan 18 and his councillors had enacted it, first at Grately and again at Exeter, and afterwards at Faversham, and a fourth time at Thunderfield in the presence of the archbishop and all the bishops and his councillors, whom the king himself nominated, who were present; that the decrees which were established in this assembly should be observed, except those which had been repealed: namely Sunday marketing, and that one might with full and true witness buy outside a town. … The king has now again spoken to his councillors at Whittlebury, and has sent word to the archbishop by Bishop Theodred 3 that it seemed too cruel to him etc.: Æthelstan.Laws    (921 x 939)

Æthelstan 18.law making VI: These are the ordinances which have been agreed upon and confirmed with solemn declarations in our association, by the bishops and reeves who belong to London - by both eorls and ceorls - as a supplement to the decrees which were promulgated at Grately, at Exeter, and at Thundersfield ...
