Siege (1)
Edmund 14-Olaf 3.peace: In 939 king Olaf 3 first came to York, and then, marching south, besieged Northampton. But accomplishing nothing there, he turned his army to Tamworth and ravaged everything round about it. When he reached Leicester on his return, king Edmund 14 met him with an army. There was no severe fighting, for the two archbishops, Oda 3 and Wulfstan 14, reconciled the kings to one another and put an end to the battle. When peace had thus been made, the Watling Street was the boundary of each kingdom. Edmund 14 held the part to the south, Olaf 3 kingdom to the north.: NorthernAnnals.SecondSet 84 (939)

Theodred 3.few known events of his life: Theodred 3's memory has not been completely lost. The Londoners say that he lived in the time of King Æthelstan 18, that he went at his side to war against Olaf 3, and that, along with Oda 1 bishop of Wiltshire, he prayed for the gift from heaven [so that Æthelstan 18's sword will miraculously return to him during the battle]. His pre-eminent virtues won him the nickname of 'the Good'. He had one lapse (they say), more an error than a crime, in that he handed over to the rigour of execution on the gallows thieves caught at St Edmunds.: WilliamofMalmesbury.GestaPontificumAnglorum ii.73.16
Tonsuring (1)
Oda 1.acquiring monastic status: Having served in England for some time, Oda 1 took the tonsure and professed as a cleric. He had never worn a monk's habit [when he was made the archbishop of Canterbury], and made a stout resistance, not wishing to be seen overturning the customs of the past out of personal ambition. For no one, he said, had ever yet been archbishop without being a monk. But the king's will was seconded by the consent of all the bishops, and in the end the venerable man's principles were overcome, and so he went overseas and became a monk at Fleury. : WilliamofMalmesbury.GestaPontificumAnglorum i.14.3, 5-6

[Oda 1] ordered the composition of a Life [of Wilfrid 2] oin epic verse. One Frithegod 1 took up the task, in a poem not altogether devoid of merit. He has a distaste for Latinity and a corresponding love for Greek. (Saint’s Life): WilliamofMalmesbury.GestaPontificumAnglorum i.15.2
