Welcome to PASE Domesday offline, which enables users to download the PASE Domesday dataset in the following ways formats:

  1. A database which can be downloaded as an Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access database. Click <here> to download the dataset in these formats.
  2. A bundle of materials which enable users to explore the PASE Domesday dataset using a powerful combination of maps and tables, supported by freely-available GIS software, ESRI’s ArcExplorer Java Edition for Education (AEJEE). Click <here> for a single downloaded zip file which can be unpacked on your own machine. The zip file contains the following elements:
    • a copy of the AEJEE software
    • the PASE Domesday dataset in the form of a ‘shapefile’, the file type supported by AEJEE
    • a series of base maps in shapefile format, including maps of the ancient shires and parishes of England in 1851 (see Acknowledgements
    • a user manual which provides a step-by-step guide to installing the software and associated maps, an introduction to using the materials in AEJEE, and a series of case studies which illustrate how the material can be used.
